This Polar Bear is taking an early morning walk on one of the many islands in Svalbard (no snow unfortunately)
We were in a wave swept Zodiac, so catching the right moment whist bouncing up and down became a good game

Super shot Ken - it reminds me of some "Machetanz" Polar Bear paintings I have seen.

James and Joseph,

Thanks very much for your comments.

I had to look up Machetanz thanks for leading me to something new :toast: :toast:

I like the sandy beach habitat and don't miss the snow, although nothing wrong with that either. Wonderful detail on the fur, although the face area, more specifically the leading edge of the head seems a little oversharpened to me, minor nit. That raised paw is a real nice touch. :toast:

Gary,

Thanks for your comment, the "sharpening" does not look as bad on the TIFF

I like this sky very much, although the one you posted on 10/30 was even more interesting. Same bear?

Lon,

This is a different bear to my earlier posts, and was taken much further south. I agree that the earlier one was much more interesting, snow plus better light
