Field of Dreams

At the Bosque the majority of the Sandhills fly from their overnight gatherings to the fields on Farm Loop, but a few remain in different places. This family of four seemed to like hanging out along Route 1 just south of the crane pools, even though the potential of attack by coyotes can be a problem in these tall grasses. Shot last Tuesday mid-morning, cropped to 4x5 aspect from 4/3rds original. Larger image included.

The three look good but the one in the FG detracts quite a bit for me. Would have been really nice if all four had lined up for you.

The light was sure sweet wasn't it Bill. I also found it quite intriguing seeing their heads pop up out of the wonderful brown grasses in the late mornings. Thanks for posting it. :toast:

Nice family group, Bill. I do find myself wishing the one in the back would give you a bit better head turn, but I remember waiting for such a group to arrange itself to my taste last January-ain't gonna happen!
