Lapwing.
At pool no.3. Bird in the process of "paddling" wich they do to bring up food. Gulls do it too.
Pity about the reflection again !!!
Nikon D200
50-500mm Sigma
640 ISO
250th sec @ f9
Contrast down 1 in camera.
About 70% of full frame
Paint Shop Pro 7
levels.
Thanks for red Grouse interest.
Cheers

Very beautiful bird, nicely captured!
Love the iridescence on the wing!

John,
Love the raised crest on this, something
you rarely see (or at least I don't)

Beautiful shot John.
Top LH corner shows some evidence of cloning but it is far enough away from the subject not to matter.

I notice you use Paint Shop Pro rather than Photoshop of Lightroom. Any particular reason?

Nice pose and excellent detail. White and dark feathers all look great.

Detail on the bird is very nice. I like the crest and the iridescent colors. Sharon

Yes I put the original on another forum and people didn't like a branch in the top left. I took it out and re posted it. Everyone said it was much better so I put that one on here.

I don't use PS because I don't like the price and on top of that I can;t get on with it Someone loaned me a copy a while back. I suppose its what you get used to, and as I have said before I suppose I am really a naturalist first- photographer second !!.
Cheers

I'd say photographer first and post processor second John.
I can't get on with Photoshop either. I still use Nikon Capture despite all the jeers of derision from the sidelines.
