Silver Ice Ferns

by Howard Cheek

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted December 15, 2013160 views8 comments
Some ice crystallization on the passenger side window of my F-150 truck, from 'Ice Friday'. I picked up some minor reflections (due to the characteristics of the auto glass) that I liked..
F/16, 1/4 second, ISO 800, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 + Kenko 1.4x ext. @ 8:55am using ambient light.
I used Nik Silver Efex to process.

Fascinating ice abstract, Howard. Well captured and processed. Love the overall look and the shadow reflections in particular.

Love this frame Howard. The marginal contrast here works very well. Beautifully done ..

Howard, excellent catch on the "ice feathers". The brightness changes add lots and I'm fascinated by the shadows. Going b&w really shows off the feathers well. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Very nice textures, though I find myself wanting a little more white/brightness.
