Personnaly this is not a favorite of mine since there are too many city lights shimmering through the layer of fog. My intention that night was to capture the night sky as seen from the Jura mountains. When I left home there was still a thick layer of fog and I thought this could be a perfect nivht for my intention....but once I reached my destination the fog has almost disappeared completely.....anyway, I thought I could try a couple of shots......I processed one at home and posted it on my personal facebook page and I recieved a a lot of positive feedback.....so that's why I posted it here. By the way, swiss people love citiy lights and man made things in photography......me not.

I love it!! As a photographer and astronomer, to me this is worthy of a postcard or better! Super job! Now why can't I capture scenes like that? :)

Looks fine Bill, seems to me you've 'tamped' down those city lights well enough.
Very cool starry night comp, well done :toast:

Nice Bill! I generally don't like man made stuff in my pictures as well, but this is great. My only small nit is a bit of halo where the mountains meet the fog/city lights.

This is great, Roland. You've handled the light wonderfully and kept lots of detail in the foreground. The stars are terrific.

There's a bit of magic here. The city lights contribute to the aesthetics for sure here.

It looks like something from a science fiction scene, Bill! Excellent long exposure with a killer sky and great visibility of the landscape features. I think the city lights actually add to the excitement of the image. Nicely done!
