Photographing these birds in breeding plumage was one of the highlights for me of our Nome photo workshop this year. It's amazing how long they need to run on the water before taking off, making for nice photo opps. Processed on my laptop. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone, I have been leading photo tours in Ecuador and am now on a slow connection so I haven't been able to do much posting or commenting.

Excellent take off pose and perspective. I also like the inclusion of the splash. Very nice and sharp. Sharon

A really gorgeous capture Nate, I love how the wing tips are barely tickling the water. I might have included just a tad more of the water splash on the right. :toast:

Thanks for your comments everyone! John, I would have liked a bit more splash there as well but that's all that I have on that side.

Beautiful flight/takeoff shot, Nate. Glad you were able to keep the last splash in the frame.

Really nice capture Nate. The low angle, flying water....what's not to like? Sure wish we had Loons here....love these birds.
