Road Cleanup Complete!

I came upon this black vulture as he had completed his job of cleaning up some roadkill. He obviously has not yet had a chance to use a napkin or some other medium to clean himself after cleaning our environment! Quite a handsome chap! I purposefully used a narrow DOF in that I wanted to concentrate on his interesting, dirt laden face. It was early morning and the light was not very optimal.

Shot with a Canon 70D, Canon 100-400 L lens at 400mm, f5.6, 1/500, ISO 6400.

Although he appears a bit untidy here the actual bare head and no feathers on it suits their scavenger traits quite well. Excellent closeup of this guy, Sandy.

Thanks Paul - I am fascinated by them encountering large numbers virtually every day. Come to think of it, they seem to circle me all the time!
