I certainly like the concept and mood of your image here. However, I'm not quite sure about the compositional balance, though. The entire image is located in the right half. I also question the bright glow or halo around the tree. It does not look right as is. There is no glow coming through the tree, which is very obvious and unnatural - even around the trunk and lower branches. I would work on this some more, plus consider a better balanced composition. And, on the immediate left of the tree is a rather large dark spot, similar to a sensor dust spot, but much larger. Not sure what it is, but it sure does interupt the otherwise smoothness of the area, and really distracts my eye.
This image is very mood evoking, and to many viewers, the things I mentioned would probably not even be noticed. It is definitely worth the time to make it into a great shot.

Many thanks for your comment, one of the best I've ever received. I've taken the photo in very diffuse light and during heavy snowfall. I was playing a bit with Photoshop.
Following your advise I tried to rearrange it a little bit. Attached the modified photo.

Excellent image. And, while I think it works with the crop version too, I like the original and your use of negative space to create a sense of space and isolation.

This is a very intriguing and artistic scene with a strong cold & stark mood. I personally prefer the composition of the first version (the negative space actually helps with the mood in this case) but I definitely prefer the processing in the second version. An excellent and eye catching image, Miro!
