Frozen crystal

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted December 27, 2013803 views8 comments
After a recent ice storm, our coral bark maple tree was covered with a layer of ice. The ice coating and the frozen drop look like they are made of glass crystal! Several years ago I had taken a similar photo which is still in my gallery.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/5 for 1/60 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Excellent ice drop detail photo in perfect light, very good clarity. Nice textures, excellent contrast against black BG. Well done Carolyn.

Many thanks to my winter photo. Following your advise, I've removed the black spot.
Wish you a very nice NY. :toast:

I like this. The very dark reddish black BG works very well here to complement the twig. Love the ice details! :wavey:

Very artistic with with nice contrasting red, silver and black colors to showcase the embedded art in the ice. Well seen and captured, Carolyn.

Wow! Carolyn. Love the ice art here. Looks like a nice bouquet or something inside the droplet and the red stem adds great one dimensional bright color like those BW photos with a nice red rose. I would perhaps like to see/experiment with a different crop, maybe portrait instead of lanscape. All in all, this is totally cool, sorry, an attempt at a bit of wintry wit. . .
