Bulrushes

This image was made in September at Shaw Nature Reserve near St. Louis. The white background was achieved by photographing from a low position, looking up into a clear evening sky, and overexposing the image. I like the simplicity of the image. It reminds me of an etching from an old textbook. I wondering what others think about this image? Are the OOF areas distracting? From looking at the EXIF data I clearly could have stopped down. Large image included. Thank you for looking.

Matthew: I like this a lot. I think the OOF parts are actually a nice complement to those that are sharp. Well seen and captured. >=))>

I like the concept and approach here, Matthew, and, no, I don't find the oof elements at all distracting. My only suggestion might be for emphasising the flowering bulrush more - not sure whether through placement in the frame or by increasing texture. Whatever, it's an image striking in its simplicity.

Interesting Zen feel that almost gets there.... Not quite sure what to suggest but would love to see more takes of this.
