Frosty Dreams

More recent image from Kananaskis Country. Taken on a cold morning as a rising sun illuminates this frozen valley with soft worm light.
A final photo is a result of hand painting two images for sky and distance mountains, and focus stacking of five images for the foreground.

Thank you for having a look and leaving a comment.

Nikon D800E, 16-35mm at 20mm.

Like a fairy tale, just so perfectly beautiful. Everything about this photo sings. It must have been very cold out there. There's not a thing I would change. I'm curious about the other technical info...IS0, shutter speed, etc.

Wow, if I blur my eyes a little it almost looks like I'm looking at a Lawren Harris painting. Love the softness in the sky, the ripples in the water and snow on the right side and how they contrast with the textures in the foreground. The warmth in the sky reflected in the pond creates a nice relaxing mood.

Marvelous texture in the FG frost, and exquisite colours. Fine lines leading to the distant mountains make a very compelling image.

Love the ice feathers and the way the darker area divides the image a bit. Adds some depth for me. And a colorful sky to boot. :toast:

Thank you for a very kind commends.

Kathy,
Technical info is rather basic. There was no wind and water was very slow flowing, so I use optimum ISO 100 and didn’t wary too much about speed. Since I couldn’t get everything in focus with f/18 and I don’t like to go beyond that, I chose to go with focus stacking at f/14.

Very strong image here. One possible thing you could do to further strengthen it would be to add some sunrise color on the hoar frost in the FG.
