Nice shot Mike, showing ol' Wiley in his winter time environment. Those mountains look both cold and beautiful!

This is a lovely environmental shot. Great scene.

If it were mine I might be tempted to crop a bit tighter from the bottom (and perhaps the top), simply because the coyote gets kind of lost along the edge of the hillside in this wider canvas, but this certainly does a nice job of showing the surrounding landscape regardless.

Welcome to NPN Mike.

This is a wonderful blustery scene of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, the attentive coyote is a sweet bonus. I am wondering how this would look as a panoramic.

Sweet Photo!

Mike, I like the comp very much - lots of scenery to peruse....and then the yote jumps out - just like being there. IMO, habitat is often what completes the story in a wildlife image...and this image exemplifies that measure very well.

Welcome to NPN Mike, hopefully we are your New Year's Resolution. I'm kind of falling in line with the previous commenters here, wanting a somewhat different compositon to show the great landscape, while still showcase the coyote; maybe crop a bit of the grassy area at the bottom. I would also suggest that you zoom in on the coyote's face and selectively lighten it a bit to give more definition there. Alternatively, a global reduction in contrast might brighten the face and also help the deep shadows in the background.

You might want to review the options on showing a larger view. Your larger photo appears to be the same as the 720 pix version. Have to get a gentle reminder in to all newbies of course, to please feel free to share your thoughs on the work of others. Thanks. :wavey:

i love the setting Mike - the snow capped mountains, the blue sky, the snowy foreground all work well together.
For me though your coyote doesn't stand out quite enough.
I woul dtry and bring it more to the front by cropping a chunk from the bottom roughly in line with the top of your signature.

Nicely done. I like the mood of this beautiful scene, anchored with that coyote taking us into it. Ideally, in my opinion, the coyote would be just a step or two closer to take his backline away from the seam of the dark shadow in the background.

Thanks again for all the feedback. I lowered the contrast and cropped in lightroom to position the Coyote a little larger in the frame. Also sharpened a bit more. All editing done in Lightroom. Thanks again for all the solid ideas.

Welcome to NPN. This is a fine environmental image. I like both posts, but I think I lean toward the pano version.

Me likie the recrop! I am a pano man and agree that this works better to get the coyote a bit more prominent. Be careful on the contrast reduction. I kind of liked the original contrast. Maybe dodge the shadow on the coyote's face instead. Welcome to the group! Everyone here is very helpful!
