Mountain Bluebird

It's a long time since I've been active here, but I hope to pick back up in 2014. Mountain Bluebird is a species I spent a lot of time trying for this summer with absolutely nothing to show for it. A week ago I spent some time at a better location, a stock pond that draws large flocks of these birds. I set up a water drip beside the pond, and used my vehicle as a blind.

I appreciate your critiques and comments. Please view the larger version if possible.

f/8, 1/800, ISO 250

Hiya Brian!

Love the pose, the great light, eye contact and how the warm tones of the background compliment the beautiful blues of the bird. Composition is lovely.

Are you still using the noodle I gave you last year?

Very nice indeed! I love the colors of the bird and background; excellent detail as well. Nice composition.

Maybe I should visit you up north instead of you visiting me down south?

Very captivating composition, Brian. Curiously the tonality of the prickly perch matches that of the creamy background. The asymmetrical crop really does accentuate the sideways glance of the bird.
