Red-billed Francolin

From Chobe, Botswana last summer. Our game drive stopped at a place we could get out of the car and stretch for a bit, there were a few of these guys around that were curious, so I laid on the ground and made some images. The nictating membrane is partially up here but I liked the leg up and bg on this one.

Excellent light, dynamite low POV, splendid catch light in the eye, subtle feeling of movement. What's not to like, very nice Nate.

Great angle, Nate. I love what it does to the sand with just the narrowest strip in focus.

Hello Nate and happy new year!

Sharp with excellent detail,. great background., those legs with their sharp looking barbs are to be respected!
leg raise adds overall, selective focus separates from foregrnd and isolates very well!

not familiar with the species.

thanks for sharing

Beautiful Nate. Love the background which sets off the bird beautifully. To get a shot like this I would almost consider going to Botswana !!!!
