Aftermath - Nubble Light

I saw the last weekend winter storm Hercules would pass off the Maine coast before sunset, so I headed up hoping to improve on my images of this popular landmark. The light and surf was ideal, but the storm actually cleared a little too fast for my liking. Most of the best clouds had cruised out to sea, but this line of cumulous hung around just long enough to prevent a blank sky.

No Daniel, I managed to stay dry though it was very cold and windy, 9 degrees F. The start of the East's really cold blast. I did see some other photogs that were a little too close to edge of really big surf. One rogue wave in those conditions, it wouldn't have been pretty

A unique capture of Nubble Light, Harry. Great wave action to go with the nice pastel sky color and snow! Bravo. :toast:

Beautiful scene ,Harry. All the elements are near perfect. It would be wonderful if we could someday loose the power lines. I'm guessing not in our lifetime. I think I've been doing to much cloning today  great work as usual.

I think the sky is fine. The colors there certainly make up for any missing cloud drama. But for me, the impact of this image lies in everything south of the sky.The colorful structures, the land masses, and the fantastic wave action going on make this image incredible.
If I could offer one small suggestion, it would be to add a bit more contrast and/or brightness to the white water area.
Great shot, and excellent crafting.

This shot is fantastic! Composition, colors, contrast, etc. are all great. Certainly some ominous clouds would be great as well, but I think this has a great feel to it.

I think the sky looks fine Harry. Nice color combination of pink in the sky and turquoise water. Water motion looks great as well.

This is wonderful Harry. I really love the wave action you've captured with your exposure! Nicely composed, and (like the others) the sky works for me too :toast:

This is gorgeous, Harry! The subtle color in the sky sets off the whites of the lighthouse, buildings, and the snow covered island wonderfully. Then you caught some fine action in the sea as well as hints of sky color. I also really like the color contrast between the whites on the island and the touch of blue in the wave action.
