Winter Bloom

We've had a fairly mild winter so far, and the winter flowering cherries now have a scattering of small flowers like this one, shot in morning light.

Canon 7D, Tamron 55-200mm lens @ 135mm, 1/100 sec @ f 6.3, -0.67ev, ISO 640, hh; added glow in Perfect Effects.

Ian: Really nice comp and the square crop really looks good to me. I also like the near monochromatic color palette. Superbly crafted image.>=))>

Ian:

A very nice blossom indeed. I like the center of this blossom which looks like its bursting out. Love the bokeh and presentation.

You are fortunate to have the mild weather, and yet we always feel guilty when we get it don't we? I hope you don't get a late one to kill these beautiful blossoms. Marvelous softness to this one, Ian. :toast:

Excellent, Ian. The backlighting, soft contrast, darker background all serve to make a pleasant image.

Ian, this is a splendid photo for me. I love the back light effects and your skill in managing more louminosity in the shadowy front of the flower. I like the emotive backgrond too. I would have loved the image also with the vertical flower.
Here too the winter is still not arrived. There are some little flowers in almost all the plants that bloom in the summer and spring; something that I have never seen before.
Take care.
