Calla Window

Gallery: FloraPosted January 13, 2014226 views10 comments
Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 50, .8 secs, f8

Had a few extra minutes at lunch today so took the callas to the bathroom studio and fired off a few shots. The drop at the tip must be some kind of secretion and I've seen a number of them on petal and leaf tips. I rotated this 90° CCW from the capture orientation simply because I preferred the flow of the image in the portrait mode. All comments welcome.>=))>

This is lovely Bill. The gentle curves accentuated by the droplet works well.

Good call on the flip, Bill. I guess we are even subconsciously influenced by gravity. Wonderful color and detail. And, the dof works great. Very well done.

Beautiful colors. Perfect DOF to accentuate the drop and details in the petal tip. Very nice, Bill!

Very nice and pleasing comp in this image, Bill. Good call on the rotation. The combination of colors, crossing diagonal lines, DOF choice, and the drop at the point all work together well to make this a great image. Simple but lovely!

The droplet really makes this image cool. It's so delicate that it appears like a bubble just ready to burst. Beautiful composition.

Beautiful simplicity Bill. One subject, two colors, one plane and an inverted triangle the creates movement. I love the photo.
Cheers.

Hey Bill, love the comp and the DOF but I'm not sure about the window reflections? in the drop.....I have debated eliminating them....but then may seem too flat? Just a thought as the rest is very nice!
