Red-tailed Hawk

Another from Ridgefield this past Saturday. A very steep angle, but I liked the underside view of this hawk anyhow. Lots of extraneous twigs removed, though none touched the hawk.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held with beanbag (resting arm on beanbag to get the steep angle). f8, 1/3200, iso 2000 (the sun just came out and I hadn't readjusted), +1/3 stop compensation. Slight crop (14MP final). Processed in CS6. Taken at 9:45 (I really need to reset my camera clocks for standard time) on January 11th.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

nice pose and stare. I never love pure blue backgrounds but I'm sure you had no control of that

Dennis I like the ruffed up feathers and that stare really stands out on the large image, you have some super detail.

I can see a slight darkish line to the left of the head/nape area. Is it just my eyes?
Despite the steep angle it looks good. Lots of details. Congrats.

Not your eyes, Akos. I did mess up the cloning of a twig there a bit. Howard Cheek also pointed it out or I wouldn't have found it. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll get rid of it in any further use of the image.

Thought of a vertical ?

The angle is not bad at all, Dennis! Nice details and look at this bird. Sharon
