Looks like a Monarch chrysalis, but I could be wrong.
I selected and darkened the very bright background.

Raw file processed in LR5, with TK resize/sharpening for web.
Canon T2i, 0.8 s, f/14, ISO 200, EF 24-105 mm @ 85 mm, CPL

Please view the large image!

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

Well photographed Monarch chrysalis, Ronald. Good job darkening the bg. It looks just right to me.

This is very cool, with being able to see the colors through the chrysalis. You handled the background well.

Ronald this a great find. It looks like some alien capsule. Amazing that this will emerge as such a beautiful creature. If this were mine I might crop down from the top to eliminate the dark edge. I hope I'll be lucky enough to find one someday.

I find this whole process of metamorphosis so amazing! It's neat to see this picture of the chrysalis stage, and to be able to see the design of the butterfly inside. Nice capture and processing, Ronald.

Ron: Great capture of an imminent moment. Don't know if you stuck around but once they get to this stage the butterfly will emerge in a matter of hours. The chrysalis stays jade green up until the final 24 hours before emergence. >=))>
