John Day is a popular name in Oregon, found for a river, two towns and a nat monument (painted hills). This is an image from our camp site along the John Day river. Your views and comments very welcome. Chet

The mackerel sky is nice complement for that warm light on the cliff. Composition doesn't really engage but improved by cropping some of the right side for a squarish format.

Interesting sky with those cloud formations and the blue of the sky makes a nice contrast to the warm light on the cliffs. I agree with Kah Kit composition-wise.........

I agree with others that a square or even 8x10 vertical would make this better. Nice light and clouds :toast:

yeah i agree with the crop since the lhs is more interesting--unfortunately you lose a bit of the nice sky. Pretty scene! :wavey:

I agree with the crop too, Chet! Nice light and color here. The sky really adds to this image and even with the crop it still works nice.

Chet,

I like the repost better but............... maybe a square crop to get more sky and a upward slope of background.

Killer sky but not really enough detail in the fg to hold my attention.

WOW, what a view from your campsite here, Chet. Love the contrasting colors of the blue and gold in the image. I kinda like the original post, I can see the point on the crop, but the original seems to work OK for me as is.

I like the cropped version here, Chet. The reflected gold in the water and the nice sky make the shot for me.

The sky with those neat clouds and the bluffs across the river are lovely, Chet. I would dodge the left corner some to brighten it so it fits better with the rest of the image. The repost works very well.
