Glacier Sunset

I got home a couple of days ago from a pretty rough trip in the backcountry of the east side of Glacier National Park. My trip happened to coincide with a storm and wind event, so I spent 3 days in 50 mph sustained winds with gusts to ninety or so, according to the caretaker I met at the Many Glacier Campground. It was difficult to say the least, but also very invigorating, I certainly knew I was alive. I took this photo from near the Many Glacier Campground, about 7 miles up the closed Going to the Sun Road.

Worth the effort. Good shot! I especially like the bend of the river and the rapidly clearing sky. :toast:

Great light and composition. I like the little bit of blue in the upper left.

You caught some fine light here, Thomas, and the big bend in the river adds nicely to the flow.

The larger view is very nice. There is a significant amount of noise that you may want to play with. Sounds like you endured some crazy conditions. Thanks for sharing.

Nice view. (Maybe it's my monitor, but the sky seems too magenta.)

Sweet light and way to hang in there to come back with this beauty, Thomas. The sky is dripping with drama although it looks a touch magenta. I wasn't there so that may have been the actual color present. Either way this is superb.

Dramatic conditions and a fine capture. Would agree with puling back the magenta a bit.

Very nice and dramatic. It feels like there are so many different ways that you could develop this image - so much opportunity!

Great capture,

Tim!
