I usually try to avoid contrasty lighting but I felt here maybe it helps bring out the florid forms of these rhododendrons; they flourished here wonderfully last Spring after a long cold spell.

Canon 400D, Tamron 55-200mm lens @ 100mm, 1/2500 sec @ f 7.1, - 2 ev, ISO 400, hh.

Ian: I actually like this kind of lighting and the challenges it presents. I think you did really well and IMO the shadows are marvelous elements. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Beautiful cluster. I might increase the contrast a bit, or maybe just raise the brights.

Ian:

These are beautiful and reminds me of the rhododendrons in Greenwich Park in London I saw a few years ago. The light here is challenging and I think you rise to the challenge.

Beautiful rhodies, Ian. I like the light and shadow, but the colors seem a bit muddy.

Ian, a wise decision to increase the contrast that creates differencies in the many flowers of the bunch. I think that the result is excellent.
Take care.
