Colorful Lantana

With the frigid temps and drifting snow outside, it' refreshing to look back over some summer flower photos. I love the mixture of colors in this annual (in our area) that I plant every year in one of my flower beds.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/9 for 1/100 sec. ISO 250. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Love the colors and the little square buds are a nice juxtaposition with the rounded blossoms.

Bold and bright color combination on this flower, I can see why it's one of your favs. Very nice portrait shot of it, too!

Beautiful Carolyn. I too love Lantana flowers and their geometric blossom for the colors that are never the same. Splendid composition.
Take care.

Great colors and exposure. The dark green bg makes the flowers "pop"

I really don't know how you could do this any better. I love to visit this flora gallery. This is exceptional. BTW I didn't realize you could grow chicklets.

Carolyn: Lantana is one of the mainstays in our garden but I rarely shoot it unless a butterfly is sitting on it. This reminds me to look at it for its own sake. Beautiful colors and I like the stages of the bloom that you've captured. Nicely done. >=))>

Carolyn:

Some may consider lantana a weed that can over-run a garden but the beautiful blooms are one of the staples for many butterflies. I find the geometric arrangements of the early buds especially fascinating. Beautifully crafted image :toast:

Nice dof with a comp that is like fireworks. Bold and whimsical. I might have tried to clone the minor blems … a little distracting. But, others would post ‘er up, as is. Good seeing this contrasting the winter dull-drums.

Love the way the mix of colours just hits you right in the eye, Carolyn ! Very nice light and comp, with the leaves fading out of the frame

Glorious color. The two florets add a lot to the comp, too. I hope you take some macros of just one of those as their structure is so cool. Just a bright, happy, gorgeous portrait. :toast:

I've tried lantana shots before, but nothing ever really clicked.
Seems you've picked just the right set of clusters, excellent color variations & comp Carolyn!! :toast:

These colors are so intense that I'm wishing for sunglasses (and I expect that was the intention of the breeders who developed this). The barely visible background is a great foil.
