Linda - nice sky with a good exposure. First off, I do believe your image is tilting to the right, but that should be easy to correct.
From there I have two points of personal opinions I'll share -
1. There is too much empty black areas. Silhouettes can often be effective, but not so much here. If you have any detail at all lurking in the blacks, I'd pull it out. If you had a bracketed shot a stop or two over exposed, you could blend in some detail - doesn't have to be much, but a hint of detail would go a long way.
2. The lake surface is not that attractive either. The rather rough water is just not that appealing. Plus it doesn't appear to be fully in focus either. A longer shutter speed would help smooth it down - the longer the shutter speed, the smoother the water will become.
Back in the old film days, sunsets with silhouletted land areas were common, and pretty much all you could expect. Digital capture opens up so many new and improved picture taking techniques, that these black abyss areas are no longer always necessary. Read up on some hand blending techniques and exposure bracketing for these images. I'm guessing that this was a hand held shot, and if so, a tripod is an absolute necessity for improving your images to the next level.

Michael's comments are spot on and should be very helpful. IMO the intruding branches upper right are a distraction. That is a beautiful and dynamic sky with the clouds leading the eyes right into the nice color. The branches kinda break that up and reduces the impact.

Linda, ditto everything that has been said. The other thing I'd like to mention is the act of participating in the critiques of other images. It makes you think about how the photo was shot and the goals the photographer was trying to achieve. It has been absolutely the best thing I've done to understand what makes a good shot and what I personally need to improve on. There is no way I can hang with many of the talented people on NPN technically, but I'm learning, and to me that's what it is all about. So jump in, put in your 2cents worth and take 1000's of pictures.
