Bosque has a lot more to offer than birds. Just have be lucky enough to catch the light.

Here's a shot from last December.

Canon 5D Mark III
70-200 f/4 @ 200mm
ISO 200
1/1000 @ f/7.1

Larger version provided.

Thanks for taking a look and providing your thoughts.

Beautiful shot Keith. I love the comp and your placement of the two lit trees, as well as the little bit of reflection of the trunk. No suggestions here.

Absolutely stunning Keith. I'm guessing that magical light only lasted a few minutes, way to be ready. :toast:

Super photo, Keith. Wonderful light and an outstanding composition. Looks like you're going to get a deluge with the color of the clouds.

Neat mood to this. I like your color contrasts.
I'd crop a smidge off the top, and possibly burn down the highlights very slight ( a delicately not-harsh transition)near the edges on that bright land area ( to keep my eyes in a bit better ) that's my only critique.

Great lighting and mood. I would take that slightly lighter section part of the sky off the top.

Not only did you capture the light at the perfect time, you also presented it in its best form thru your excellent post processing.

I'll echo the crop, better balance to my eye, but love the beautiful window of light you captured against that dark backdrop.

Thanks everyone for your input. Here's a version with a crop from the top, and a small adjustment to bring down the luminance of the brightest grasses in front of the tree. Always great to see what others are seeing!

The lighting on that tree is spectacular and it's set off so well by the darkness of the sky. I like the repost because it adds a bit more emphasis to the trees and the foreground lighting but still lets the sky play a major role.

Both are excellent, Keith! I prefer the repost for the reasons Mark stated.

Nicely done!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Those small adjustments in the repost are the winning ticket, Keith. The light on the FG is set against that drama of the storm laden sky beautifully.

The lighting contrast makes for a striking image here. An excellent comp, too with the progression of the two lighted trees. Beautiful color, too. :toast:
