This mid morning profile shot from the Chupadera deck at Bosque del Apache, early December. I'm a little undecided about the BG, too busy, too dark? Would love some thoughts regarding it.

Nicely captured and the depth of field shows the habitt nicely. I found myself wishing there was room for the virtual feet, though.

Nice detail and exposure. I too would like more space at the bottom, and tilting the camera down for that would have reduced the concern about the busy background.

I would have to agree with the other comments. If the crane's was just up on the bank a little more to see the feet that would of put the finishing touch.

Yeah perhaps the BG's busy. My thoughts? Better to have opened up your lens when you shot it of course..
But the bird looks tack sharp with great exposure, very natural colors as well John :toast:

sweet light and details, and a nice natural setting, John. I agree with the other comments re: room for the feet. a lower angle (e.g., shooting down on the ground at the crane pools rather than up on one of the decks) can reduce some of the bg clutter as well.

I like the colors and details on this very much. The bg doesn't bother me much, and I like the "lazy" wing. What I don't like is the bill intersecting with those weeds. Still, very nice image and I took lots of shots like this...nice to have some habitat shots in your portfolio! Sharon

Excellent detail and beautiful exposure in the Crane, John. I think there's enough contrast from the bg that the bird stands out nicely.
