This cold & snowy winter has given me a good chance to catch up on some of my backed-up editing. :smile: This image from last summer is of a hover fly resting on a Coreopsis flower bud.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/4.5 for 1/100 sec. ISO 500. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

I figured this was yours right from the thumbnail, Carolyn. I love the simplicity, the top down view, and the vivid colors, including the purple on the HF's wings. :toast:

Wonderful image, Carolyn. Simple but very effective. Nice bright colors, sharp detail, and love the coloration coming from the wings. Gorgeous. Makes me want to be out there taking photos of these kinds of things. Soon I hope.

Superb comp Carolyn!. I like the graphic look of the shapes highlighted by the direct overhead perspective. Very nice detail/sharpness and bokeh as well. :toast:

Carolyn, Thats a cracker of an image. Fine detail in the insect and love the way you bring it in from the corner ..very well done

You've sliced this pretty thin @ F/4.5, excellent result Carolyn.
The wing 'sheen' is the main attraction for me, great comp & BG in this top shot :toast:
