Green Heron ( Butorides virescens )

Another capture along the Seaside lava rocks. Unusual to see him at this locale, usually in the mangroves.
Early morning prior to sunrise this little guy was active seeking his morning protein from the small tidal water pools left from a previous ocean wave.
The pose is held for a few seconds then like a bolt of lightning he captures another small creature within his beak.
I like his Frozen-Look here, and his Very focused eye on the prey.

Fuji S5 Pro Camera with a Nikon 200-400 Lens VR F4., Taken @ 280mm,
1/100 speed, Handheld while in a prone position,
F6.3, ISO 200. About 90% of full frame

No Baiting, Not called in, Just a Wild Beauty!:)

Comments & Critiques Appreciated.

Bill ( To fully appreciate , should see Larger Version )

Sweet image, Bill. An interesting angle to get the tide pool in the bg.

Super detail and I really like the hunting pose and environment here Bill, the oof rock in the fg is a little distracting but likely nothing you could have done about that, well done. :toast:

Nice pose and detail on the heron, possibly a little over saturated ( on my monitor, at least). Don't know if this was cropped or not, but a little more space left and at the top would be nice.

My comments pretty much echo Nate's on this one Bill, but I also like the unique location of this one.

Neat 'skulking' arrow-like pose and I really like this setting as before Bill.
Great detail, well done :toast:

I like the comp and the setting. For me, the oof rock in front is a bit much, but the only thing I can think to do would be make this more of a pano image, but then you would lose some of the sense of the setting, which is unusual. Overall, a pretty good shot. Sharon

Hello Guys & Gals

Thanks for taking the time to Critique. Very much appreciated!:)

Hello.. Dennis , was hoping to capture a reflection of him in the tidal pool but had to settle for this.
...........Bob, as mentioned in my info. about 90% of original and no room up top.
...........The foreground oof rock is a distraction but "it is what it is"!

Thanks everyone for your comments
