Dark-eyed Junco

Number umpteesquat. Another image from last Saturday. I had lots of other shots with what I considered better poses of the Juncos, but I really liked the way this pose worked with the perch. I only got this one frame with a bird perched in this particular location. This is a new crossbar that I hang feeders from (an old Garry Oak branch picked up from a local riparian area).

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow head mounted to blind window, f8, 1/1000, iso 1250, Av mode with -1/3 stop compensation. Processed in LR5 and CS6. Full frame.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I really like the comp and color palette of this Dennis. The way the branch curls up on the left side really works well for me. Nicely done.

Its often difficult to get a good look at a black eye coming from a black face -- you did good to give me that look

Cool perch that provides for an interesting comp Dennis, I like it.
The darker head's well exposed, nice details:toast:

Nice perch and comp. Good exposure to get details in the black face and eye. Very nice!

Bird is framed very nicely by your interesting perch. I like the frosty look on it. Sharon

A very nice, sharp image of the junco Dennis. I find the bg a bit bright so I would either try to bring it down or perhaps put the bird higher in the frame. :toast:
