Yet another bird butt

D800 200-400mm @400mm F8 1/2000 handheld

During a long day of ducks in flight shooting at Cameron NWR, I certainly get more than my fair share of " bird butt " shots, and usually discard them with barely a glance, but this one somehow seemed pleasing to my eye.

Any thoughts?

Yep… Your title sums it up  Not an image that provides much interest for my tastes.

Pleasing to mine as well, Bob. It shows parts of the plumage we rarely see and the symmetry of the pose is cool. I just plain like the feel of this as well.

I agree with Dennis that this shows plumage one rarely sees, and it does have a unique symmetry about it..
Could almost see it as an abstract if you were lucky enough to be very close.
But then you'd have to pull your head out
I like it Bob, nice change of 'pace' :wavey:

I agree with Dennis and Howard's comments about symmetry and a different perspective. Feather detail is great in the large version.

This is pretty neat, Bob. I love ducks, so I don't mind any view of them, but this sure would be awesome if you had a head/eye in it. Very, very sharp! Sharon

I like the patterns on the wings and the shapes of the feathers. I think this is more than a passable butt shot!
