A few frames later in the sequence I mentioned in my last post. Based on comments there, I blurred the bg considerably for this one and cropped it a bit tighter.

7D, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, beanbag on truck window, f9, 1/1000, iso 400, Av mode with -1.3 stop compensation. Processed in CS6 and LR5. Cropped to 9.9MP. Taken February 1st at 2:16 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I like the upward gaze and comp a lot Dennis.
Very good details, color, and exposure as well.
Great portrait work, nicely done:toast:

Good to see the uncluttered background -- colors look good -- but the face is a bit soft on my monitor -- I'm a bit surprised that the sharpness did not carry thru from the birds neck to his face -- thinking f9 should hold that focus

Very nice shot Dennis. I do think it would improve it a bit if it was a vertical shot showing a little more of the body. But that's just my humble opinion.

I like the crop on this Dennis, but I am a fan of portraits to mix things up a bit. I think the detail seems to be there on my monitor. I may sharpening the head a touch more, but like I said the detail seems to be there unless my eyes are playing tricks on me. Plus cool pose on this one.

Very cool pose here Dennis, I would try to add a little bit more sharpening around the eye and face :toast:

This is a nice portrait. I like the pensive upward look...a little different than most heron portraits...and that's a good thing! Sharon
