Thrasher on Cctus Perch

Curve-billed Thrasher at San Tan Mountain Regional Park -- Queen Creek, AZ

1/1250 at f10 and ISO 320
Canon 7D
Canon 500mm with 1.4 TC

Wishing the oof cactus in lower left was not there -- tried to clone it out but as the cactus was touching the perch and the bird -- it did not look right -- tried a horizontal crop but could not take it out. I like the rest of it.

Excellent sharpness Scott. Great perch, BG, colors and comp.
There's a way to remove oof cacti, but it would take a bit of time.
I sometimes will pull an image like this and see what I can do..
Did some fine closeup work using color replacement, brush, and other tools to do it.

The OOF cactus in the bottom front isn't that much of a problem and I'd never even consider trying to remove it.

Excellent, David. The bird and perch are incredibly crisp, and I like the rising line of the cactus. My only nit is the oof cactus in the LL corner. I'd be tempted to try to get rid of it, though it would be tricky.

I am always amazed how the desert birds do not seemed bothered to land on the cactus needles and this shot shows that very well.

Very nice image of this bird. The perch is wonderful and adds interest. I'm fine with the oof cactus...adds a bit of depth to the image. Sharon

Per our conversation :wavey:
I'm of the mind that PS should be used when it can improve an image.
The OOF color BRC draws your eye from the subject here, no matter how you look at it.
At the end of the day, one 'makes' an image IMO. PS is just another tool along with the camera, lens, etc..
