‘Hanging On’
Decided to sit in my blind near a watering hole as our winter weather moved in and was not surprised by the activity. This Red-Bellied Woodpecker is hanging on to an ice covered pine tree while giving me a nice pose.

I like the pose, perch and background for this image. When I first opened it, my impression was that it was a flashed shot. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE advocate for using fill flash as I think it helps solve a myriad of problems. I then read your techs. I think -2/3 was not enough flash compensation. I'm usually down in the -2 or a bit more range for flash compensation.

Very nice coloration and details on the wp. Looks a bit contrasty as a result of the flash. I do like the pose and the comp. Sharon

Nice, Mike. Excellent pose and detail. I think you could back off some more on the flash-especially with the icy trunk making it reflective.
