Mount Fitz Roy

Around this time of year I start to wish I was out in Patagonia instead of stuck at work. In a few weeks the Patagonian lenga will start to change from a deep green towards shades of yellow, orange and red and is nothing short of spectacular. Although this shot doesn't show the fall color it is still one of my favorites.

I'm not sure if it's a bit too flat, I work away from home so I only get to process on a basic laptop.

A gorgeous scene. It could use more contrast. I agree, it is a bit flat. :toast:

Wow... Nice view. Being unfamiliar with that area, is this from another mountainside, or an aerial shot?

This is from another mountain, it was blowing a gale when I was up here, I was at serious risk of being blown off my feet. I took several shots further to the left then forced myself further on until I found a boulder just to my right which sheltered me a bit.

I wish you could upload an updated re-edited shot on NPN, I think this could do with that contrast boost.

Wonderful shot. A tad more punch would put it over the top.

Welcome to NPN Andrew and you've entered with a bang. Wonderful starting images. This is just a wonderful scene with a beautiful comp and colors and very dramatic sky. Beautifully done. :toast:

A dramatic and epic view. The only nit I have is the lake seems to be tilting to the right, so maybe a little counterclockwise correction. Needs to be printed huge and hung on a wall!

Morris I think you could be right, I have a habit of doing that, I'll play with it and see if I can make an improvement but I suspect it's too tightly cropped. It may just be the shadow that makes it look tilted. Thanks for pointing it out, this is precisely why I joined NPN, this shot has had lots of viewers on 500px but nobody makes a useful criticism. :toast:

No worries, Andrew. Few people outside of this forum will care if it is or not, because it's is such a great image. And, lakes can be deceiving for being straight with their receding shorelines, so that or the shadows may just give that illusion to me. You filled the frame perfectly so I would think you don't have room to straighten or you'll lose too much of this. This is a completely unique view of this great place for me, so thanks for sharing.

There's a bucket list location for me. Marvelous scene. Perhaps a tad more contrast as has already been mentioned.

Wow Andrew! What a view. I see the tilt that Morris pointed about, but I can't tell if it's an illusion or not. Overall, great image of a spectacular place.

Thanks everyone, I actually think the lake tilt is an illusion. I've got a print of it back at home I'll check it out when I get back in about 5 months. Damned if I'm not away from home too much.

I agree with the "add pop" comments, but truly this is a magical view, and one of the best large-scale comps I've seen of this area. Well done! :toast:
