I found this intimate scene yesterday afternoon strolling through the Morava Floodplains in the eastern part of Lower Austria, at the Slovakian border.

Comments and critique are appreciated.

Peter, I don't know how you do it but you seem to have a special eye finding and making these scenes work. Your large version here is especially interesting and I really like what the highlighted moss on the log adds to this scene. I often think of Eliot Porter when looking at your work.

This is an easy photo to pass by Peter, but there's a lot of fun in the large version. The dead vegetation forms great patterns, and the log in there is like a hidden treasure.

Nice job taming the chaos of this scene Peter. As Nick said, you definitely have a way of making these scenes work.

How do you spot these type of scenes, Peter? The thumbnail does not do this beautiful image any justice IMO. I particularly love the large version because of all those wonderful details for the eye to wander around and enjoy.

I think the large version is a must. I agree with John that this is a easy photo to pass by but to enjoy the full potential one must look at the large version. Such comps are always tough, at least for me. You have to organise and bring order to it....somehow you manage to make this work. It has almost an bastract quality to it.
