Ring-necked Duck

I have wanted an image of a Ring-necked Duck for a while and Saturday a friend showed me a location where he said we could set there and they would just swim by and we could shoot.

He was right and I captured my best images of this Duck, both female and male, to date.

Critiques are welcome and appreciated.

This is really pretty! Nice light and details of this handsome drake. So...your friend took you to Golden Pond!
Tiny little dust speck almost halfway between the bill's reflection and the right edge... Sharon

This is really great. The water is great and the ripples seem to accentuate the duck. The exposure is spot on. No nits from me. :toast:

Very nicely done, and a nice look from the drake as well. I'm not sure the square crop is ideal, but that's a matter of personal taste. A fine capture.

Am I the only one who thinks this is the most mis-named species in North America?

Excellent capture! Nice pose and the lighting is a plus for the detail. My eye keeps dropping to the light ripples in the foreground. I'd love to see what this looks like with those cropped out.

Really nice. I love the colors and the rings in the water.

Nice job on the techs on this. Looks to be an 8x10 crop? I might be tempted to move back to original 8.5x11 and remove a bit of the FG.

Hey Skip,
Super shot. Pretty nice reflection, a great head turn, nice water color, and fairly sharp. Only thing I might do is crop a little bit off the bottom. Coloring looks spot on. Nice job!! Let's get together soon. Laughing at Jim's response. Is this the most misnamed species in North America? Too dang funny. You can only see the iridescent ring when the light hits it just right. Hard to get an image of it actually showing though.
