I seldom or almost never post in this gallery since I am landscape photographer but every know and then I am lucky enough to see some wildlife to photograph. I am by no means a wildlife photographer.....I saw this ibex at Creux Du Van in the Jura mountains of switzerland while photographing the landcape all day long with a fellow swiss photographer.

I like the sense of space created by going wide in this composition . . . Nice work Bill ! :toast:

Very graphically pleasing. The stark white, the cool blue and then the brown create a masterful iamge

Very cool image, but I wish the placement of Ibex was better in the frame.
But on the other hand, this can make a great layout !

I am back and forth about the amount of negative space in this. I really like ti for some reasons and then am wondering how much it might be improved with using a tad less space? Did you attempt a crop to compare? If so, what were your thoughts on the difference? One thing I do love about the amount of open space...perfect for an add or text in a magazine.

Nice light and the larger version shows the nice texture in the snow and detail in the Ibex. I'm with Kurt in wondering if it might not be stronger still with a slight crop on the sky to emphasize him even more.

Thanks for your feedbacks. I really do appreciate your comments and thoughts. Well, I actually wanted to do another version with less negative space and was about to change lenses when the ibex disappeared into the fog......actually I would have had plenty of time to do a close view of the ibex. This ibex stood there for quiet some time. This was taken with my 70-200/f2.8 lens and that is the closest I got. I even have some other comps but some of them show even more landscape. In this one I really wanted to show a sense of space and the ibex in his environment.

Neat. I would agree with Curt. As a crop, with less on top it would elevate the ibex, suggesting a stronger mood perhaps. Still, this is perfect, as noted, for use in a text layout.

Beautiful, Roland. I'd be interested in seeing one of your frames with more landscape that puts the Ibex higher in the frame to give even more sense of elevation, but this is still wonderful.
