Icicles in the Cave

This is another image I shot during my recent trip to the Ice Caves on Lake Superior. These icicles were so interesting hanging from the cave ceiling and it was just so cool to see. This one I decided to convert to b&w but I do have color shots as well for later.
Thanks so much for all of your comments on my last few post from these caves. The larger version works better.

The art of Nature combined with the art of a photographer can create some truly wonderful images, Nick. This is certainly one of them.

Very cool presentation. Sort of abstract, sort of patterns. I like the b+w and the focus is dead on. Really great image!

very nice shot Nick. I like how the spacing between the icicles leaves more black at the top of the frame. The wide angle works really well here too! It seems like you may have some soft areas in the edges which may have lent itself to a stack - hard to see in this version so it could be my imagination

Thanks Navin! I did do a focus stack on a couple of the other images I shot that are very similar to this one. I think they came out pretty good. They are in color and I will probably post one in a day or two. :wavey: Nick

Yes, this one is fantastic ice abstract. Black and white seems like the way to go as well. Scale would be nice however I'm not sure how you do that without blowing up the excellent comp.

Very nice abstract quality here, Nick. You could also try blue toning for this, but I imagine the original color would be similar.

Nick, I like that you've capture the hoarfrost on these icicles - it gives them a more raw feeling...
