River Scene

First, let me thank you for the comments you've made on my palmettos and palms series!

This is the slightly post-dawn scene across the river from my camp on the Aucilla River. I can't imagine what the first Spaniards must have thought when they surveyed such an impenetrable scene ahead of them. Tough country to penetrate even today.

Please view LARGER version for better detail.

Comments and critiques always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Lots to be looked at, but it all seems to cohere well.

Lots of nice details and interesting things to look at in the large version Bill. You've done a good job organizing the scene also. Only nit would be to darken the bright tree on the left as it pulls my eyes there. Very nicely done.

The darker center creates a possible path through this dense scene and an anchor in the chaos. Very cool.

I think I would crop out the large grey palm stem on the left. The dirt forester in me sees a place to pull my boat up and get through the ugly!

Wonderful larger view of the swamp area you've been working as of late, Bill. Love the very natural appeal in the plant colors. Looks like some "thick" vegetation to try and negotiate a way through also. Nicely seen and captured.

I am not sure this one is working for me. I find my eye wandering the scene and not really alighting on anything.

Nice "big" picture! A lot of different shapes and structures in there. I agree about darkening the one palm trunk on the left side a little.

Lots of interesting detail here, yet I think the palm tree on the right and adjacent dark area provide a suitable focus point. The reflection at the bottom is also a nice anchor. Works for me. I'd also probably darken the bright tree trunk on the left.

Bill, I enjoyed looking at your large version here with all there is to explore. I like the reflections very much too. I would darken the tree a bit on the left as well. Very nice!

I like this Bill. As someone said, the darker center anchors the scene nicely :toast:
