Sorry for the long winter's absence from this forum. Like many others here our crocuses are popping out. This is a stray that found its way into a mossy patch out front.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod as low as it goes and ballhead flopped on its side, cable release and live view, f10, 1/200, iso400, Av mode with +2/3 compensation, straightened, slight crop from all sides and some unsightly twigs and dead grass that I missed when I cleaned the area removed digitally. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Additional enhancement using Topaz Detail 3. I find white difficult to deal with so I'm interested in whether this works.

Your comments and criticisms are appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I like the water droplets and the centered comp Dennis. I think you did pretty well on the whites - but there is a point at the top center of the bloom where I think there could be a bit more detail.

Nicely done overall.

This looks very good to me, Dennis. I've got one clump of white crocus and have had fun trying different comps., but nothing this good. I agree with Nathan that there a small bit at the very top of the bloom that could use some more detail, try pulling the highlights slider down and getting the highlights back by raising the tone curve in LR.

Dennis, this would be a good subject for one of the NIK filters, probably Color Efex 4, to get some structure and gradation into the fine detail in the whites. The centered crop is appropriate, and I really like the BG! Topaz Detail 3 can do an excellent job on the micro stuff. I use both.

Beautifully done, Dennis - I especially like your dof choice, bringing up some of the bits of small plant life in the fg and, of course, the gorgeous droplets.
