I've seen this building many times over the years and I've always wondered where the steps to the door got off to.

It was suggested that I crop out the tree on the right and burn down the area to the right of the building, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on this?

Nice scene of a great old doorway. Well, I would leave the tree but burn down right side. Great colors in the wood.

Very nice, lots of nice texture in the wood. I somewhat agree with Harley, but don't burn down enough to loose the background in the eaves. :toast:

This is fantastic, Preston. Love the texture, colors, and tones in the door and wall, and the branches across the top add an interesting contrast to the lines of the wall. I would probably darken the right hand side foliage, and even the grasses across the bottom. To me, this is all about the door and wall.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Here's the tweaked version. I created a curves layer for the FG and the foliage on the right side and brought those values down some. I also used TK's Bright Lights mask to bring up the whites in the door a bit. Any better?

Much better, Preston, the door really stands out now. The tones of the background and lower grasses are such that they don't compete with the building, especially the door. :toast:
