Just back from 4 weeks in Hawaii and Florida.
Excellent birding!
Something unusual here - a spoonbill in a dark glen with a nice bathing pond.

Wondered where you were. Beautiful Roseate Spoonbill! I am wondering, though, if it is as dark as depicted.

Yes, true colours all around. He was in a heavily wooded area and very tough to get him in the clear with any light on him at all.
These are full breeding colours.

Yes, adult male in full breeding down to the orange on the shoulders. This must have been an unusual set of conditions to yield something this stark. The contrast is so hard that almost all of the shadow detail is blocked. With light this harsh you did an amazing job of holding the detail in all of the rosy. The wing position is a very nice plus on top of that. Great find, super job in holding it together.

Very colorful Sandy, I like the out stretched wings. I think you did very well considering the light. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Sandy

He sure doesn,t fit into the surroundings with that very contrasty look.
very clear and sharp details.

He looks like a colorful spectacle stepping out of a black and white movie Sandy. Very unusual indeed.
