I'm still having fun with these Wood Ducts. I was anticipating him flapping his wings, hence the high ISO and aperture for a very fast shutter speed. Processed using Photoshop CS3, NeatImage and LightZone. Comments and critiques welcome.

Canon 7D
Canon 200-400 f$ L IS
f4.0
1/8000s
ISO 640

Terrific iridescence Jerry. You captured all the colors of the head on this shot. Tough to do. Had to have the light at just the right angle. With all the light you had you might have gotten better depth of field if you had stopped down a little bit rather than shooting wide open. Chest is very sharp but the head is just a tad soft. This is quite a woodie show you have been putting on Jerry. Count me in as a fan favorite. Keep em comin.

Interesting pose, great colors. The exposure looks spot on. The comp is good with him coming at us. The eye looks like it might take a little more selective sharpening. Sorry to say, they didn't fix the sharpening tool in CS until CS5 when they added the protect detail option. It works in CS3, but keep it 15% or less on opacity, luminosity blend mode and only paint in the sharpening once or twice at most. There is also an odd echo of the back right (as we view it) wing tip in the lighter water immediately above it. Keep them coming. I never get tired of these wonderful members of the duck family.

What is a wood duct?? Just kidding! Another nice woodie shot. Colors and iridescence look real nice and I like the unconventional pose. I agree it does look just a tad soft around the eyes.:toast:

I like this a lot Jerry, neat, different pose and nice reflection. You had plenty of light in which to stop down which would have helped with sharpness around the eye. :toast:

Loving your wood duck series. I like the low angle on this sharp, colorful image. You really captured his iridenscence well. Dave
