I managed to get closer to this female Plumbeous Water Redstart on Doi Inthanon, Thailand.
Canon 5DII, EF500 f/4 I + 2xIII, tripod, f/8, 1/60, ISO 1600, full-frame, digitally disguised a fallen yellow leaf at right.

Nice, Simon. Excellent sharpness. I've been wondering how the new 2x teleconverter played with the older 500. This looks like it works very well. I don't know if it's just sky reflection off the water, but it looks to me like there might be just a bit of blue color cast to this image.

Your stalking skills must be pretty good. Do you use any blind or camo? Former Special Forces member?
Can't see anything I'd fix.
Sharpness looks dead on to me, especially at 1/60s. Nice image and nice species.

Good detail in the bird. The reddish rock (?) in the LUC is a bit of a distraction in an otherwise pleasing background. I like the wet foreground rocks.

Lovely shot again Simon. More light on the bird than in your first upload. Like it ! Hans

Very cool little bird Simon...don't think I have ever seen this species before. I like the wet rocks in this image and think it tells the story of what he was doing there.

Cute little dude. A bit of cropping on the sides and bottom might deemphasize the rocks.

The bird looks like it's contemplating something important... love the "wet" feel this image evokes
