Superstitious Bones

by Bob Miller

Gallery: LandscapePosted March 25, 2014185 views4 comments
Saguaro skeleton found while bushwacking through the bushes in the Superstition Mountains. I am not too pleased with the blur of the occotillo plant- it doesn't take much of a wind to wiggle them, I may need to go back and hope for a better sky and zero breeze.

7.1 second exposure @ f16, ISO 100, tripod.

SEE LARGE VERSION.

It's a very nice scene, with the Saguaro skeleton adding a lot of interest to the frame. I think it's nice enough as is, but wouldn't let that stop you from trying for something better another day.

The foreground works very well here, and I like the nice soft light. The blurred Ocotillo doesn't bother me at all. It implies a sense of wind that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. As photographers, we often view such things as distracting elements, but a photo without such "imperfections" May seem sterile by comparison. The blurred ocotillo grounds your image in reality, and helps tell a greater story about the location.

I really like this, Bob. The light on the saguaro skeleton is sweet and the the blur of the ocotillo is hardly noticeable . Beautiful desert scene.

Bob, This is really a nice scene and I quite enjoy the feel of it. Very nice light and I like the natural colors in this. Makes me feel like I'm there!
