From Conowingo Dam last November. No crop as the eagle flew over me after making his catch in the river. Nikon D300 F8 1/1000 ISO 800 with Nikon 200-400. Comments and critiques please.

Good reflexes Andrew to catch him on approach like this. The eagle looks very sharp. The light is a bit harsh, looks like you lifted the shadows a little but detail under the wind is still hidden. Not suggesting you adjust those shadows any further, just the way it is. Still a strong image that I would be very happy with, especially considering you have him doing an osprey imitation with that big fish.

You captured a nice moment with the eagle and the fish. Sharpness looks good. The image looks pretty flat in terms of overall contrast. I'm guessing there is no black point and/or white point. Looks like it was originally underexposed on the bottom of the wings, then brought up in post processing?

Nice angle, Andrew, and the fish looks crisp. I agree with others that it looks as if you were trying to recover the shadows under the wings. Personally, I'd rather have some blocked shadows than the flattish appearance as it is now. This is plenty crisp enough and the face is nicely lighted so I think I'd work on the dynamic range some more. Setting a black point and white point might help a lot.
