I have worked in a traditional darkroom, making B&W prints for many years, since my college days. At home, I used to convert the toilet into darkroom for working and the worst part was, after working for 3 - 4 hrs. I had to clean it.
Making a B&W om computer appears to be a super luxury.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!

I too remember the delights of processing B & W in the toilet
30 minutes per image rather than 60 seconds, it is so much easier now!
This is a fabulous image , the pose and the detail are remarkable, better still you have avoided the over processing (grain, contrast etc,) that so many people think makes for a good B & W
I concur with the others about the great textures and detail shown here. A real small thing - but I think it helps make the photo - love how the tip of the youngsters trunk doesn't overlap or touch any part of mom.
I like this as posted, but I also think this could work well vertically, with about 33% of the right side of the image cropped off (I do find that the "pouches" between mom's front legs pull on my eye a bit) - not sure if you have sufficient resolution to pull that off (and still really be able to do much with the resulting image). Just a thought...

Nice conversion too - though I may be tempted to dodge the midtones and highlights very slightly, just for a hint more separation between the greys and whites.
Brad, I happened to implement your suggestion in Jan, 2011 n you happened to comment too

Nice to see I'm consistent in my views!
Have to say I think that "little thing" I mentioned in this post (the trunk not overlapping with mom) DOES make a difference to the shot (it is overlapping in the other shot).
Cheers...
