Slowly Rusting (WC#628)

This was taken in Opal Creek Wilderness. It is now a federally protected old growth forest, but in the past mining and logging were attempted there, but proved unprofitable. There are many remnants of the past with several vehicles and other equipment lying around. Opal Creek lies east of Salem, Oregon and makes for a nice day hike or overnight campout.

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

WOW, this thing is a real old classic, Allen. Crazy how things like this get left behind when various era's come to an end. This one in the case of the mining or logging ventures collapsing in the area. Very neat old relic.

Very cool, Alan. I once did a little logging and can remember relics of generations past scattered about the forest. Nice take on this challenge.

I like the composition and the feeling of this image. I just feels like a ghost from a long lost era.

What a wonderful old clunker! It almost has an amusing look IMO, with the headlights looking like eyes. I like the car's position, like it was turning around the tree before it was abandoned. The green tree branches make a great background for the rusty old vehicle. I might crop up a bit from the bottom to get rid of some of the dirt.

At first I thought a B&W conversion would be better but the more I look at it the more I like those rusts and evergreen needles together. Lovely comp. :toast:
