The Belted Kingfisher was enjoying its perch above the pond Early in the morning before sunrise.

The small fish swimming in the pond has attracted this guy for her morning meal.

The Rattling sound of another Kingfisher can be heard in the distance & she looks up to see the intruder.

Bill,

Well done--soft, but bright morning light helps the subject pop from the dark background. The detail of the head feathers is especially nice. ..................Jim

Only those that have tried to capture this elusive bird know how difficult it is. The light , color and detail is wonderful. Nice capture.

I can get close enough to hear them rattle, but have yet to get a photo of them that I am satisfied with. A super shot, Bill! :toast: :toast:

Bill,
Love the background. Makes this KF just pop. I don't know if it's my monitor but the head feathers look like they have some purple or magenta in them. The whites and the blacks look very nice. Excellent exposure. The detail in the large version is REAL nice!! :toast:

This looks good, Bill. I like the pose and you certainly were close enough. It seems that the color saturation is a little pronounced, but not by much. Also, I'm wondering why at iso 200 the background seems a bit noisy, especially on the larger version. Good stuff. :toast:

Awesome image Bill, I've always had poor luck trying to capture these guys. You nailed this one in a great pose on a nice open perch. Simply wonderful!
