Nice behavioural image Sandy. You captured the greenish sheen on the wings nicely on both birds. Dave

At 135mm these two weren't at the top of the big tree where they normally nest. Were they down on the little one just to the left of the corner where the boardwalk turns? I think you nailed it on the timing and captured the iridescence in the feathers as well. The comp is also very nice. The brightest sections of the whites (down by his rump, and the leading edge of her wing) look to be clipping a bit on my monitor. Looks like you had an excellent trip.

Rick, when we were there , there were 4 pairs of mating wood storks. These two were in the top of the tree near the right-angle bend in the boardwalk.
On my recently-calibrated monitor, whites not clipped.
It was an excellent trip, thanks, that also found my 94-and 93 yr old dad and step-mother in DelRay very well and remaining totally independent.

Looks like they were having a good day. Nice shot, Sandy. Both are in good focus, though the light looks rather harsh.

Isn't spring wonderful, not only for the birds, but for the bird photographers too. Very expressive body language you captured Sandy.

Makes me wish I had wings! And that I was still 18...Oh, well. Very expressive with well handled whites. The Alligator Farm rookery is an amazing place. :toast:

Killer behavior captured. It's usually pretty difficult to isolate this behavior at a rookery b/c they are normally mating surrounded by others. I am glad that we can see the male's left foot on the female's back b/c it helps to put this image into perspective and tell the story.
